Dave Brighton Floor Sanding can supply solid 19mm, 13mm and 12mm hardwood timber flooring, from one of our 2 timber mills being Notaras & Sons Timber and Coffs Harbour Hardwoods. The timber is milled and kilned dried before being delivered to your site.
Once your timber has been delivered to your site, we recommend that for acclimatisation the timber should be on-site 14 days prior to installation, under cover and racked out. It is required that the timber sits for 14 days before as a part of our process we conduct a moisture reading of your new timber. We also check it again before we commence installation to minimise any moisture issues in the future. We also ensure that you’re fully aware that timber is a natural product and will continue to expand and contract with the weather and climate.
This process is our preferred method of acclimatisation and the recommendation of the timber mill.
All timber is installed following the Australian Standards.
We secret nail the boards to the subfloor and also glue the timber boards to the sub floor to ensure it gives the maximum holding power and which minimises movement. We also install cork expansion joints every 6 metres and leave an additional 1.2mm expansion gap per every metre as this will allow the timber to move and minimise any expansions issues that may arise in the future.
Now that your new timber floor is installed, we recommend letting it rest in place for about 7 days to allow the timber to settle, then we’ll return to finish your new floors with sanding and coating to your chosen sheen.
